COMMENTARY FROM HARRY GORDON: I thoroughly enjoyed the Potter Yachters Foster City Lagoon P15 sail yesterday! Thanks, Dory and Oscar, for setting up the event, and thanks, Judy and Mike, for the photos, already on line. We had seven P14/P15s attending. The shifting, variable winds were a challenge, but fun. Everyone got under the bridges okay, apparently, and nobody needed a tow. I didn't use the MinnKota at all. In the race to the restaurant, Jerry and Judy in Breezy finished far in front (surprise), but the second through fifth finishers were still close together at the finish, providing great competition. Oscar had a couple of boat lengths on me at the finish, to take second. Manatee, gunter rigged with a Mk II main (instead of the lateen rig) was third, followed closely by Dave Kautz and (I think) Chris Mayer. It was nice sailing an area with no powerboat noise and wakes and no tide or current. The people with the waterfront homes seemed to appreciate watching a fleet of sailboats through their picture windows and from their patios and gardens, and we were frequently asked what kind of boat is that. There are many electric launches at Foster City, and we saw a brand new $29,000 Duffy electric being launched as we returned to the ramp. Harry P14 #234, Manatee Mountain View, CA --- This is a shot of the fleet coming under the last bridge before the "finish line". Front three boats, L to R: Dave and Francesca Kautz in Tilly Lucy, Harry Gordon in Manatee, and Ocsar K. In the background in the green hulled P15 is Chris Sayer with his wife and 2 year old as crew.
